Amazing tool for the 21st century
This tool only comes second to my power drill. Since owning it i have found job after job that it can do and has saved me hours of head scratching and elbow grease. Lifting floorboards is as easy as sin as it's plunge wood cutter easily cuts along the tongue and grove. The same for any woodwork job that requires awkward and precise cutting. I shaped my skirting boards for fitting a fireplace without having to remove the skirting board! It cuts tiles, removes old grouting and cuts nails. The sanding attachment is also far better than the stand alone sanding tools you normally have to buy, sanding now takes a quarter of the time it use to. I keep finding new jobs all the time and is the best investment in a power tool i have ever spent since buying my drill. Cant recommend this enough, if you are getting ready for a DIY project then this is a must. Well done Bosch a fantastic tool.

innovative
An excellent vesatile tool which will pay for itself in no time if you have a use for it , the metal plunge cutter was the accessory i knew i would use the most in my work and had to buy this seperately but is readily available and around eight pounds plus postage on amazon . recently used the semi cicular blade to cut through thick carpet tiles and the melted rubber has now hardened on the blade but hasn,t affected its performance . so addicted to using it i keep finding jobs to do around the house as well as using the tool at work , bosch's best product to date ..

Very Noisy
I purchased this with one single task in mind that was to trim an existing skirting board to allow laminated flooring to fit. It was excellent for this using the provided segmented saw blade which made short work of this and also cut any nails that were encountered in the process. However there were some cuts where I had to use the plunge blade as access was difficult I checked with a metal detector that there were no nails in the vicinity and started to cut, I immediately hit a nail which took all the teeth off the wood plunge blade. I then purchased a metal plunge blade which worked well. Although there is a variable speed setting I did not notice much difference between the various speeds except for the noise level and at high speeds the tendency to burn wood. The blades and the sanding base plate are easy to change with only as single centre bolt, Allen key supplied. Supplied with the kit are "Red quality" all three grades (for use on wood) sanding sheets which fix easily to the sanding base plate with Velcro. If you want to sand paint, filler etc you need the "White quality sheets" each type of sanding sheet is available in fine, medium and coarse. Sanding is very precise and sands well although at the higher speed settings it is quite aggressive. I was surprised at the lack of safety as there is no blade guard although it would be difficult to provide on this type of tool, the one thing that took me by surprise was the fact that you can turn it on with a slide switch and it runs, not even a push button so that it stops on release. I was concerned how noisy the tool was the claimed max noise level is "Sound Pressure level 85dB (A)" this is correct until you cut a nail when the noise increases and I measured up to 110dB (A) when you consider that 85dB (A) is the "Upper Exposure Action Value" should it have been used all day it is noisy. Also the maximum vibration level is given as ah=11.4 m/s2, uncertainty K=2.2 m/s2 I have no way of measuring to confirm this vibration level but it is sufficient that you would not want to use it for an extended time. I was disappointed by the case which is flimsy and light weight and it seems that Bosch have gone for using standard cases that they can be used for many tools the result of this is that you have a case that nothing really fits in fact it is even difficult to put in the supplied sanding sheets without bending them. IN SUMMARY I did not particularly like this tool but at the price band there is little to beat it and if you need to cut in confined spaces you need a tool like this. I have used the Fein Multimaster which is a far superior tool (but just as noisy) however this is much more expensive. Some Fein model blades fit the Bosch so you can get a greater range of accessories however check before you buy as only some models fit.

really good and practical machine
i reallly like it good make practical handy and does things others can't.10 out of 10

A great Invention
Even for a moderate DIY/Hobbyist user like myself, this Bosch item is clever in design, easy to use and very versatile. Very pleased with the purchase which is much used. A product typical of the Bosch hallmark of solid design and manufacture.
